Today’s Reading: Psalm 42
Remember, Self, just because the circumstances are overwhelming does not mean that you have to be overwhelmed. An ocean of pain is sweeping through so many lives this season, but that does not mean you have to drown. The waves that crash against you, though they may sting sharp, are full of His love. The waves that crash against you, though the may cause an ache that seems unbearable, are full of His grace. These waves that break over you, they are the very cleansing work of His hands that are the surest evidence that He is for you.
Yet, as you stand there, Self — I know — you feel your knees buckle and give way under the tumult. Yes, you are a frail, wobbly creature with feet made of clay, but, Self, you are made of sterner stuff than just that. Almighty God abides in this tabernacle of flesh, and He makes you new. Do not lose heart; you are safe in His keeping no matter what occurs. Do not lose heart; He is your Faithful Hope. Do not lose heart; He is for you. So long as He is with you, you are not overwhelmed, and He is with you always, world without end.
“Deep calls to deep in the roar of Your waterfalls;
all Your breakers and Your billows have swept over me.
The Lord will send His faithful love by day;
His song will be with me in the night—
a prayer to the God of my life.”
